American auction house Gooding & Company tore up the record book last Saturday when it sold the prototype of the much-valued Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa series for $16.39m.
The curvaceous race car with its blue/white stripe has become the world’s most expensive car sold at auction. With bidding starting at $10m, it then proceeded briskly to the final hammer price – a fittingly dramatic twist in the story of an amazing car.
