H&H at The Haynes International Motor Museum, Yeovil 12th October 2008
Includes full lotlist

1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Saloon - £35,000 - 40,000

H&H is ‘on the road’ again. In its last-but-one 2008 sale, the Cheshire-based auction house is visiting the Haynes Museum to sell 57 classic and sporting cars.

The catalogue features a broad range of machinery, ranging from a late-entry 1993 Honda NSX (£15,000 - 18,000) to the headlining 1937 Frazer Nash-BMW 328 Roadster estimated at £350,000 - 400,000. The latter was owned at one point by the Liverpool garagiste and BRDC member Gilbert 'Gillie' Tyrer, and was extensively sprinted and hillclimbed in the immediate post-War period.

1937 Frazer Nash-BMW 328 Roadster - £350,000 - 400,000

As we all know, these cars are highly eligible for the top events such as the Le Mans Classic and the Mille Miglia retrospective. H&H has always held competition machinery close to its heart and so, in addition to the BMW, there’s also a 1948 Allard J1 (£37,000 – 40,000) and a 1963 Lotus 23B Sports Racer (£50,000 - 70,000).

1974 Maserati Merak - £16,000 - 18,000

1948 Allard J1 - £37,000 - 4,0000

1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider - £18,000 - 22,000

Away from the race track, many popular road-going classics are included in the catalogue. There’s a Dark Blue 1965 Jaguar E-type 4.2 Roadster for £40,000 - 45,000 and a Primrose Yellow 1960 Triumph TR3A, representing good value at £8500 - 9500.

Those favouring slightly more modern exotica will like the 1974 Maserati Merak (£16,000 - 18,000) and, for collectors with deeper pockets, the 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT carrying a market-average estimate of £70,000 - 80,000.

Of the older cars, there’s only one Lagonda (unusual for an H&H sale…), the 1928 Two-litre Tourer at £37,000 - 40,000, and a nice proper ‘W.O.’ Bentley, the 1925 3 litre Boat Tail Tourer for £100,000 - 110,000.

1963 Lotus 23B Sports Racer - £50,000 - 70,000

1993 Honda NSX £15,000 - 18,000

There are three Astons at Yeovil. The 1954 DB2/4 Saloon, at £35,000 - 40,000, is an attractively priced car – although clearly needing some re-commissioning to get it fully roadworthy after spending 10 years ‘little if at all used’.

Aston aficionados can also choose from the 1937 2-litre 15/98 Short Chassis 2/4 Seater for £90,000 - 100,000, or the blue 1981 V8 'on the money' for £21,000 - 23,000.

Prior to the motor cars, H&H will auction various items of automobilia, a number of bicycles, number plates and several motorcycles, including a couple of Norton Manx racing machines: both looking very ‘Goodwood-able’.

The 12th October 2008 sale will be held at:
