Bang & Olufsen Bespoke Sound for Aston Martin One-77

Bang & Olufsen has developed bespoke sound systems for all Aston Martins currently on the market, but the pinnacle of this partnership is the latest BeoSound One-77 that “brings state-of-the-art music reproduction into each of the 77 super sports cars built”.

It was important that the Bang & Olufsen experts were brought into the car’s development at a very early stage, to work with the Aston Martin engineers to integrate the subwoofers and woofers into the One-77’s carbonfibre body structure. By supporting the speakers in a lightweight, yet highly rigid structure, the designers were able to produce an extremely clean and precise bass reproduction.

The grilles covering the Neodymium loudspeakers were milled from solid blocks of aluminium, both for acoustic and cosmetic reasons. Another suitably upmarket touch is that, when the sound system is turned on, motors raise the aluminium tweeters from the instrument panel. “What we have done is to produce 77 car sound systems with the same processes and meticulous attention to detail, as if we should do a one-off concept car for a motor show,” says Bjarne Sørensen, Director of Concept and Technology at Bang & Olufsen Automotive.

The total power of the system is more than 1000W, while the amplified power for the woofers and mid-ranges comes from Bang & Olufsen's proprietary ICEpower technology, delivering 750W watts of undistorted sound.
