Geneva Preview: Bentley Continental Flying Star by Touring
Limited-edition shooting brake based on Continental GT

Coachbuilder Touring Superleggera of Milan will launch a bespoke version of the super-successful Bentley GT at this year’s Geneva Salon.

The company plans to limit production to “up to 20 units” of a hand-built, three-door estate based on either a regular, or Speed, Continental GT. The ‘Flying Star’ name was first used by Touring in the 1930s for a special Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport, and then resurrected in the 1960s, when a concept Lamborghini 400 GT with shooting brake bodywork was called the Flying Star II.

Despite a long tradition of special-bodied cars (or series designs, such as the Aston Martin DB4) for the most exclusive marques including Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bristol, Lancia, Frazer Nash, Bristol and Alfa Romeo, this will be the first Bentley with bodywork by Touring.

Just a simple sketch has been released so far, with the full ‘reveal’ scheduled for March 2 at 12:30. The new car is described as having a “new interior [which] features two completely foldable individual rear seats”. This will create a flat load-space over two metres long.

The new panelwork is in steel and aluminium, and the all-alloy rear tailgate is electrically powered. No prices, or delivery times for production cars, have been announced.
