Among the new models to be revealed at next month’s Geneva Motor Show is a coupé from Maserati – the Pininfarina-styled Maserati GranTurismo. A 4.2-litre 400bhp engine will power this high-performance sportscar but Maserati is also placing considerable emphasis on driver and passenger comfort, with the promise of high quality interior detailing and enough room for four people. The intention is to create a muscular, engaging sportscar that can nevertheless be used every day.

With a weight distribution of 49% front and 51% rear, the GranTurismo comes with an automatic gearbox and adaptive control, which adjusts gearshifting according to driving style and conditions.



The new model name – Maserati GranTurismo – pays homage to Maserati’s tradition of the Gran Turismo concept, dating back to 1947. That was the year when the Trident gave in to customer demand and unveiled the first ever Maserati road car – at the Geneva Motor Show. This first Gran Turismo, the A6, was designed by the great Pinin Farina and only 58 units were produced. The car was known for its advanced technology and avant-garde styling.



The new Maserati GranTurismo represents a further step towards the completion of the Trident product range, following the worldwide launch of the Quattroporte Automatic at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
