| Aston Martin Virage, the start of a new era In 1990, the Virage marked an important step by Aston Martin as the start of the new decade. This specific car is the very last Virage built by Aston Martin. This makes it a very significant part of the history of the brand. Besides that, it’s in absolutely mint condition. Virage is a beautiful French word (meaning ‘bend’) that embodies the car’s continental ambitions. It’s a true gran turismo, a fast, luxurious and extremely exclusive 2 + 2, designed to cover great distances at high speed. The Virage, in every respect, proved to be a worthy successor to the now classic V8 series – of which the production process had become too expensive over the years. The coachwork with its modern lines was newly designed in full, all the while respecting traditional Aston Martin brand characteristics. The 5.3 litre V8 was fitted with new cylinder heads, with four valves servicing every cylinder. Fuel was provided by a new injection system. These improvements yielded output of no less than 330 bhp. Aston Martin Virage #50426 – 1995 in detail The last Virage to roll out of the Aston Martin factory did so in style in a lovely colour combination featuring a Buckinghamshire Green Metallic exterior and a Magnolia interior with Dark Green piping. This Virage was built on 20 December 1995 and was delivered on 1 August 1996. The first owner of the final Virage was David Akehurst, who sold the car to its second owner, P. Sutcliffe, on 4 May 2000. Its third owner was James Haygarth, who registered the car to his name on 12 November 2003. Noble House is the fourth owner of this extraordinary car, of which the service history is known from the time when it was owned by James Haygarth. His invoices add up to more than GBP 4,000. Aston Martin provided the last Virage with the Wide Body Conversion. This involved the mounting of wider front- and rear fenders to accommodate the wider wheels and tyres, larger brakes, different front- and rear suspension, fog lamps in the front spoiler and more. The car was fitted with an automatic transmission system. Its odometer currently reads a mere 35,920 miles. In case there are still doubts concerning the status of this car as the very last Aston Martin Virage, its dashboard bears a plaque confirming that chassis number #50426 was the last Virage to roll off the Newport Pagnell assembly line.
