| This Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe has been newly delivered by Aston Martin dealer Brooklands of Bond Street at the 9th of november 1956. A nut and bolt restoration has been carried out in the 80s and since then the car has been used for shows and soft rallying. In those years, the owner decided to keep the car as being a convertible. In 2011, the engine of the car received big attention by Paul Newman Classic Cars. Invoices show that quite a lot of work on the engine has been done. New pistons, bearings and rings are installed. All this work has been done in between june and august last year, 2011. Quite a lot of invoices show what has been done over the years with the car. So there is a nice history file including the original build sheet as well as the very old green logbook. There are even pictures in the file which show that the restoration was done from the ground. The only part which was left was the chassis and from there on, a complete rebuild has been started. The car started life as being 1 of the 34 original Fixed Head Coupes. In Aston Martin words, Notchback. David Brown needed to have some different models. He therefore decide to take a DB2/4 Convertible on which he installed a fixed hardtop. The model was not as popular as expected and only 34 fixed head coupes have been sold over the years. Currently the car is in a nice condition. The interior and soft top are very nice. The body is also looking nice without big gaps in between the doors or the bonnet. The engine bay looks perfect due to the attention which is given during the restoration.
