Presented for the first time at the Paris Salon in 1972, the Ferrari 365 GT4 2 +2 became successively the 400 GT (1976-1979), the 400i GT (1979-1985) and was eventually the 412. The design of master coachbuilder Pininfarina was so good that it didn't need to be changed but just evolved gradually for almost 17 years - a proof of the car's modernism and its original purity of design.
This beautiful Ferrari 400i, in blue metallic with beige interior, was delivered new to Bayonne S. Kelley Winson of Bayonne, who was living at the Hôtel de la Côte Basque. In 1988, the car was acquired through Maria Pozzi by Fernand Maria along with a aluminium bodied 275 GTB, chassis number 8065. A well-known collector of exceptional Alfas, Fernand Maria was also at that time the treasurer of the Ferrari club. When Maria had purchased the car, it was as good as first hand and since then he clocked about 50,000km. In 1994, when the car had done barely 60,000km, Maria Fernand sold the car to a friend who still owns it.
This luxurious GT, which comes with its Ferrari notebooks and toolkits, is in good original condition, which is rather rare for this model, reflecting the cars low mileage of 65,300km, and the fact that it has been carefully maintained. The service book stamps show that the car has been maintained by overhauled by Ferrari Pozzi in Bayonne and the latest revision at 60,000km had been completed by ASP in 2001. More recently the left side Bosch electronic injection has been revised and four new Michelin TRX tyres have been put on the cars, with less than 1,000km on them. It is indeed rare to see a 400i with a history that has been so carefully followed and preserved over time. If one considers the fact that it is manual version, then this car becomes that much more desirable for a young father with the soul of a collector.
