| Only 712 early 308 models were constructed in glass fibre and of these only 154 were made with right hand drive. This UK delivered example is one of the finest, it has covered only 36,000 miles from new in the hands of three owners and is a superb, completely original example with all books and tools. The car was ordered new on the 16th September 1975 with Ferrari confirming receipt of the order from Maranello Concessionaires on the 29th October that year. The first owner, a Mr Phillips, specified the special order colour Bianco Polo Park with dark blue interior, he also specified most available options including tinted glass, heated rear window, air conditioning, electric windows, leather interior and Phillips radio with loudspeakers and electric aerial. Delivery was due in March 1976, however this was delayed, the car finally being registered on the 16th August 1976. The car was supplied through sub dealer Colmore Depot Ltd based in Birmingham, where the original owner lived. Mr Phillips kept the car for a couple of years and returned the car to Colmore Depot for maintenance. On the 12th July 1978, the car was purchased by Nigel Wooddisse, based again in the Midlands. He clearly loved the car as it remained in his and later his wife's possession until last year. During this time the Ferrari received little use, an MOT on file from 1980 already indicates a mileage of 34,000 miles and subsequent MOT certificates indicate little change. The car was clearly very carefully stored, this being the only explanation for its extraordinary state of preservation. Last year the Ferrari joined a significant private English collection that features very nice original low mileage cars. Following purchase it was carefully checked and fully serviced by a well-respected marque specialist. In this ownership the Ferrari has been enjoyed on a few dry summer outings only. This lovely 308 furthers the argument for the superiority of low mileage original cars. Every detail is authentic and delightful working exactly as it would have done when new. The driving experience is fantastic with a tightness of feel and ‘rightness’ that no restoration can emulate. The car comes with all books in the original leather wallet including the original radio instruction book! All tools, keys and a history file detailing ownership, MOT certificates and invoices.
