A genuine 'CSX' numbered '427 Mk III', damaged and then totally rebuilt and converted to 'S/C' spec. by Cobra specialists in the USA in the 1970s, retaining its original chassis and the majority of its original panel-work, ancillaries and fittings.
1981 Shelby American Club Concours Award winner, featured in several USA motoring magazines and subsequently owned by well-known car collectors including the President of Paramount Films.
Imported into the UK in 2004, guest-displayed at various major car shows and robustly driven and given the 'star treatment' by Alan de Cadenet in his 'Victory by Design' TV series (DVD goes with the car).
Comprehensive mechanical restoration with its original 1966 spec. 427 top-oiler, cross-bolted engine, totally rebuilt by Peter Knight - then successfully completed a 1000+ mile tour of Southern Europe. Superbly presented to Show standard throughout, with full weather equipment and delightful patina, spanning almost 50 years.
UK registered and MOT'd.
An exceptionally rare opportunity to own an absolutely genuine 1966 '427' Cobra, priced to reflect that in the 1970s the original chassis plate was removed from this car in its damaged/pre-restored state, and transferred to a new replacement body/chassis unit (as stated in the Cobra Registries) with substantial accompanying documentation of the full history.
