1959 Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato Double Bubble” Chassis No. 532947 Engine No. 549353 Body No. 52 The Abarth Zagato was dominant in its class due to the very special chassis and drive train components Abarth developed and attached to the pedestrian Fiat 600 underpinnings. It proved itself on racetracks around the world from Sebring to Nurburgring, winning more races in Europe than any other manufacturer in the 50 s and 60 s. The components Abarth developed made him an equal to Porsche and Ferrari as an engineering genius. History of #52 According to the oldest recorded owner of this stunning example, the car was purchased used around 1959-60 in Denver, Colorado and was brought to Utah two years later where it raced at Airport #2 in West Jordan, Utah in the SCCA regionals. It later became the gentleman’s daily driver. A registry form on file indicates that this particular car won its class at the Pikes Peak Hill climb in 1959. The Abarth was cared for by the same long-term owner until 1997 when it was purchased by a fellow Utahan. In the years following, this Double Bubble” was to receive a complete mechanical and cosmetic freshening. The Double Bubble Zagato alloy body has been proven by time to be the most recognized and sought after shape from the house of Zagato. Finished in green paintwork over biscuit leather interior with red piping, the car still retains much of its original glass and interior-exterior trim restored to proper specifications. During the restoration it was noted that all original body number (#52) stampings and yellow grease pencil markings remain in their proper locations.
