| 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera GT2 Chassis # WPOZZZ99ZT5392138 Type 911 GT2 was the lightweight racing version of the 993 Turbo - (1995-1998) model range. Porsche continued its tradition of offering customers a competitive car for competition use and prepared a road based car within the international GT rules. Based on the 993 twin-turbo with numerous modifications to the engine, body and suspension - the GT2 enjoyed a 22hp power increase to 430hp (316KW) and a significant weight reduction of 200 kgs. Available only in rear-wheel drive, with minimal interior trim, the GT2 was fitted with weight saving aluminium doors, bolt on plastic wheel arch extensions, an additional front spoiler and a larger fixed rear spoiler with adjustable wing. Upon UK arrival, Evans Halshaw (Official Porsche Centre, Birmingham) prepared the car for UK use with change of headlights etc and documented a replacement MPH Speedo to be fitted. In July 2000 it was sold to Adrian Slater, Birmigham, who then sold it the following year directly to Henry Pearman, of Eagle E-Types in East Sussex. Pearman sold the car to his friend John Gardiner of Crosthwaite & Gardiner in order to make way financially for the purchase of his first Silk Cut Jaguar Group C car, but was able to buy it back from Gardiner in 2006, with still only 10,500 miles. The car remained part of Henry’s collection until it was finally sold in August 2009 to fellow Group C racer and collector, Steve Tandy. Having searched for some time for a correctly maintained and low mileage example, the Harrison collection were able to recently purchase in 2011, this highly desirable GT2, still with a total of just 17,682 miles recorded. Despite still only low mileage the car has been correctly maintained and is offered fresh from a recent full service by Porsche main dealer, Dick Lovett in Swindon, which included a new set of tyres. Accompanying the car is the original handbook and wallet, plus various service and maintenance invoices, historical MOT’s, tax discs, immobiliser and spare keys.
