| The Williams FW07B was the car that took Alan Jones to the 1980 F1 World Championship – the first World Championship for Williams, and driver Alan Jones. Designed by Patrick Head, the FW07 design was so successful that it remained competitive for 3 years. The B version of the car was introduced for 1980, and was immediately successful. In fact the design of the car was so successful that it was copied by other teams to a greater or lesser degree for the 1981 season. During 1980, Jones won 5 races during the year, and team mate Reuterman won once in the wet at Monaco. Of the 5 races that he (Jones) won, chassis number 7 was victorious 4 times. This FW07B still has an original (Williams supplied) engine fitted to it – a long stroke DFV engine which today produces in the region of 500hp. This engine has been recently rebuilt by Cosworth specialist Geoff Richardson. Interestingly the Ford/Cosworth logos were ground off the cam covers in deference to Williams sponsor Leyland. The car has been in private ownership for a number of years and has been maintained to the highest standards regardless of cost. The car has a valid magnaflux and x-ray certificates for suspension components and wheels, as well as the fuel cells. The car has been raced by its current owner, and has been tested by professional driver Anthony Reid, to ensure that the car is competitive in HFO races. Most recently the car finished second in the unofficial timings at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, only missing the fastest time by 5 1/100ths of a second.
