| Year : 1986 Make : Rolls-Royce Model : Camargue Coachbuilder : Pininfarina Body Type : Coupe Colour : Royal Blue Trim : Magnolia Leather Piped Blue History : In the late 1960’s Sergio Pininfarina was commissioned to produce a special one off body for a Bentley T1 chassis, which was subsequently displayed at the Turin Motor Show in 1968. With this design in mind production of a similar car in Rolls-Royce form began in 1975, once again styled by Pininfarina in Turin. The Camargue was based on a Silver Shadow chassis and featured some new aspects not seen in a Rolls-Royce before including a split level air conditioning system. The Camargue quickly became the flagship model at Rolls-Royce and towards the end of production in the mid 1980’s was the most expensive new car in the world. Just over 500 examples were built during the eleven year production schedule with Chassis Number CH10398, the car we are currently offering for sale, being the very last example built in right hand drive. It was ordered new by The Sultan of Brunei, who subsequently didn’t take delivery. It comes complete with a substantial history file, being serviced by Rolls-Royce main agents in its early years and then later on with P&A Wood and then with us in London. It is a car we have supplied in the past on more than one occasion, so we are very familiar with this particular examples quality and pedigree. It was supplied by us in early 2009 to a small collection and has subsequently been used on a number of rallies and motoring events, here in the UK and also abroad. It is fitted with picnic tables, a cocktail set and glasses in the centre arm rest, its correct original style stereo, dark blue lamb’s wool over rugs, its original handbook, a substantial history file and all of its tools. It is correctly described as being in excellent condition and certainly has a degree of collectability when taking into account its history. Condition : Very good condition. Technical Data : Three speed automatic gearbox, power steering, 8 cylinder 90 degree V-configuration engine, 6.7 litres displacement, 6750cc capacity. Ventilated disc brakes.
