Enjoying a production run from 1948 through 1966 the 356 is a landmark postwar sportscar and a definitive expression of Ferdinand Porsche’s design signature that continues to this day. The final, SC variant was the most powerful pushrod engine Porsche had produced to date (with a quoted 95bhp) and mated to such an evolved chassis configuration, that also boasted disc brakes, it meant for a refined and extremely capable sportscar.

This fine example is one of the rare, UK market right hand drive models imported via UK concessionaire AFN. Originally delivered in non metallic grey it was specified with red leatherette interior.

Whilst early ownership is not currently known it was first registered on the 7th April 1965. By October 1980 it had passed to a Mr P. Willard of (London suburb) Orpington and it was retained until February 1984 when acquired by Waldron Motors who were a modern franchised retailer for BMW. It was believed to have been repainted to the current silver by Waldron and sat on display in their showroom for many years. Company Administration forced sale of the 356 in May 1992 and it was then that the current owner was fortunate enough to acquire the car. Whilst prior mileage cannot be warranted it should be noted that at the time of purchase it displayed 79,729 miles.

Over the past 20 years OOO 209 has been much enjoyed yet covered very few miles and it displays just under 81,300 miles today. Invoices on file denote necessary servicing and parts and a fresh MOT has been obtained.

Not without fault this lovely 356 SC is best described as a very usable driver presenting well yet the paint has begun to show age in a few places. Performance is simply superb and the engine and transmission performed without fault on a recent test drive. Perhaps the finest attribute which, (in my opinion) lends to suggestion that it has been cared for throughout its life, is the condition and originality of the interior. Whilst it shows wear in a few places it really is just right and has a wonderful feel, it also has the fitment of period temperature and amp gauges plus retains the original Blaupunkt radio.
