With only 565 produced examples, the DB2/4 Mk1 is quite a rare sportscar. These Feltham built Aston Martins are now becoming very collectable, after years in the shade of the iconic DB4-DB6 range.
The DB2 was an important car for Aston Martin, as it was the first all-new model created under the company's ownership by David Brown. The engine is a W.O Bentley designed Lagonda twin-cam six cilinder. The early DB2's had a 2.6 litre version, while from 1954 on the larger 2.9 litre block came in use. This gentleman sportscar became a 4-seater in 1953 and the name DB2/4 was born. The bodywork, built by Mulliner, was the world's first hatchback design and is still one of the nicest fifties sportscar bodies ever made.
This particular car is a full matching nrs. car, and only had 3 owners from new. The car was completely nut-and-bolt restored in 1990, by its second owner, and is now still in a remarkebly perfect condition. the restoration is full documented with invoices and photographs. Last year, the car benefitted from another check-up, and in the meantime an electric power steering system was installed. This Aston Martin has just received a full service, and is now ready to drive anywhere. It is a wonderful car, with great pedigree and in perfect condition. The beautiful colour combination of Moonbeam Grey and red hide works very well, and is still the same colour scheme as it left the factory 57 years ago. These Feltham built cars are still affordable, but for how much longer... ?
