Thousands $ invested into the restoration by the previous owner! Offered with books, tools, side curtains and full tonneau cover! The TD was the inevitable first step toward a more modern postwar MG capable of gaining great popularity abroad, which in 1949 meant mainly the lucrative U.S. market. As marque expert Richard Knudson observed: If the TC started the sports car revolution, it was the TD that fought the battle. The MG TD offered here displays a decade old frame-off restoration which has mellowed nicely over the years and presents very well as a great driver. Finish in classic British racing green the interior sports biscuit leather upholstery and door panels over black carpeting. A full set of side-curtains compliment the top and full-tonneau cover. During restoration, the frame and suspension components, all appropriate bushings were replaced and sheet metal parts were sandblasted, primed and painted. A new wiring harness was installed, and the wood tub was repaired and-or replaced as needed. The dash board and gauges were refreshed as well. The 1,250cc engine and gearbox were rebuilt as was the vehicles other mechanical components. All brightwork is new or re-chromed, including the unique radiator grill (unrestored original included). Period correct wind wings, passenger grab handle and Moto-Lita style steering wheel (original included) add to the touring ensemble.
