Like many marques, MG hurried back into production after the war with a mildly-modified version of its prewar T-series Midget called the TC. The big difference with other marques, however, was that MG found an entirely new market in the American GIs still stationed in England after the war. They brought their TCs back to the US, righthand drive and all, and created a sports car revolution, pretty much all based on this little automobile. Powered by a diminutive 1,250cc overhead valve 4-cylinder engine its 54 horsepower hardly held a candle to the 90+ horsepower common in American cars of the period but its equally diminutive weight and quick, responsive handling proved to be a revelation which has made the MG TC a stalwart of car collectors ever since. This 1948 MG TC Roadster has been comprehensively restored, then driven as MGs should be. It is finished in British Racing Green with Green leather upholstery and a tan top and boot. Its wire wheels are painted silver with blackwall tires, the very British wood dashboard and spare mounted behind MG s signature slab fuel tank. The chrome grille is fronted by a badge bar mounted with the horn, a driving light and badges from the Vintage MG Car Club of Chicago, British Auto Racing Club, Queen Elizabeth s coronation and the Brooklands circuit. The engine is correctly presented with its dual SU carburetors, the correct air cleaner assembly and a chrome valve cover with the jack in its proper place in the underbonnet tool box. Its present condition is extremely pretty, orderly and correct, a showable car that will be a rewarding mount on tours and will show proudly in all venues.
