The Aston Martin DB2 was shown at the public at the New York Motor Show of 1950.
This was not the first time that the public could see this very special cars. 3 examples had raced at the grueling 24 Hours of LeMans.
Unfortunately 1 of the three cars was involved by a fatal accident.
The DB2 has been designed by Frank Freeley and was initially built as a two-seater touring car. It was the first real production car for Aston Martin and the new price of the DB2 was in those years around 1.600,- ponds.
The DB1, the car were the DB2 was based on was the first Aston which had the initials of David Brown (the owner at that time) as model name.
The production designs were very similar to the vehicles which raced at Le Mans. The cars had the same engine which was a W.O. Bentley designed Lagonda six-cylinder engine which produces standard 115 horsepower. An optional Vantage upgrade increased the engine power to 125 horsepower.
During the production period which was from 1950 through 1953 only 441 examples were produced.
This specific Aston Martin DB2 Vantage is an original European car. Newly delivered in France to the oldest producers of fine brandy Cognac. In 1952, the company Martell & Co. ordered this right hand drive Aston Martin DB2 Vantage.
When the car was delivered, it came with some non-standard equipment as a purolator oil filter, a M/C choke and ignition and vent frames windshields.
After 1 year of use, the Aston Martin went back to the Aston Martin factory for extensive servicing work. The Aston was fitted with later-type pistons and valve guides. The brakes were also modified with Alfin drums. The engine performance was improved and maybe that is the reason why this Aston Martin is so quick.

The Aston Martin has undergone mechanical work on the engine, the gearbox, the rear axle, the brakes and the bodywork in 2003 and 2005.

At the moment, the Aston Martin is driving extremely well. The car is very fast and one can benefit from the work which has been carried out on the car.

The body of the car is very nice and straight with beautiful door fittings. The chrome is excellent and also the paint is very nice.

From underneath the car is very impressive. One can easily see that a lot of money has been invested and what the reason is of the perfect handling from this car.

The interior is in the same quality as the rest of the car. Restored with the correct details. The color which is very dark red is superb. Also the chrome inside as well as the wooden dashboard and the steering wheel are impressively restored.

Overall, this Aston Martin is in a very nice condition. A lot of money has spend on this car and therefore it is not only looking very nice, it is also an impressive driver.

If one wants to do more with the car, it is possible to subscribe for the World's Greatest Road race in the world, the Mille Miglia because an Aston Martin DB2 is eligible for the race.
