25/07/2012 RM Auctions, ‘The Aalholm Collection’ sale, 12 August 2012
1964 Porsche 356C Coupé: 25,000 - 30,000 euros, No Reserve
It’s not often we can say “RM Auctions WILL sell…” but, in the forthcoming 100% ‘No Reserve’ event in Denmark, 171 cars will find new owners when the Aalholm Automobil Museum collection comes under the hammer.
The collection was started nearly 40 years ago. Mainly comprising pre-War cars (the oldest is an 1886 Daimler Prototype Replica), there are nevertheless several entries of interest to the more sporting, typically ‘Classic Driver’ collector.
We’d pick out the 1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupé (40,000 - 45,000 euros), for example. Or the 1985 Ferrari Testarossa (yes, it’s red… but only 30,000 - 40,000 euros… and ‘No Reserve’…).
1967 Mercedes-Benz 600 Saloon: 10,000 - 20,000 euros, No Reserve
1958 Bentley S1 Saloon: 12,000 - 15,000 euros, No Reserve
And, in addition to the many interesting motor car entries, there’s a superb 1920s Märklin train set. RM tactfully advises bidders to “please speak to a company representative prior to the auction with regards to the removal of this lot”.
Comprising 60 metres of track fixed to a wooden diorama base, seven engines and 58 carriages, the set – estimated at 30,000 to 50,000 euros – must be the ultimate “you bought WHAT!” surprise for friends and relations back home.
1963 Ferrari 250 GTE: 45,000 - 55,000 euros, No Reserve
