The car on offer here is a simply fabulous racer in Semi-Lightweight form built by West Riding Jaguar, a marque-specialist of great repute whose reputation is based on the many outright victories and class-wins in historic racing by cars prepared in their state-of-the–art facility. Based on a 1965 roadster tub with aluminium bonnet, doors, rear wings and boot lid, the car sports the distinctive Works-style hardtop, which is constructed in lightweight fibreglass. The stunning Briggs Cunningham Le Mans livery is period correct and evocative of the inspiring visual heritage of the great racers of the day.
The full-race engine is based on a proven 3.8-litre steel block with wet-sump lubrication running triple Weber 45 DCOE carburettors. The high specification ancillaries include an aluminium radiator and header tank, FIA-specification race fuel cell and tubular exhaust manifolds feeding into a free-flow exhaust system. An all-synchromesh gearbox transmits the prodigious 300 bhp via an AP competition clutch, through a LSD racing differential to peg-drive hubs with magnesium alloy wheels and Dunlop L section tyres. Needless to say the car comes with the very best in safety equipment – all to current FIA-specification and date.
This immaculately presented and superbly detailed car is a credit to the fastidious work of West Riding Jaguar. Having been just completed and tested at great expense, this car has to be considered as being 'fresh out of the box' and is ready to race or be enjoyed as a (very) fast road car. With its recently awarded FIA HTP papers, this thoroughbred historic race car is therefore eligible for all significant historic racing events: HRDC 'GTS65', Jaguar Heritage Challenge Series, Masters, Silverstone Classic, Oulton Gold Cup, Spa 6 Hours etc. It is also a perfect car for long distance touring events such as the Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore if fitted with 2 seats.
