One of 18 production 2 seater cars built by the works. This car has spent most of its life in Ireland and has pre-war racing history at Phoenix Park (1937) and in the Leinster Trophy (1938). After the war this car was used as a daily driver by the farmer owner and later became converted into a flat bed and was used as a milk float on the farm. The tail of the body was restored to original specification in the 1970's. A complete restoration was undertaken by the present owner at Morntane Engineering in the mid 1980's, including steel crank and rod engine rebuild (refreshed in 2003), and full chassis rebuild and repaint. The original seats are still with the car. This Ulster has only been used relatively sparingly since then, but this does include four Mille Miglias, a few AMOC tours and the occasional St. John Horsfall race (including the 2011 event in July). This great example of the model Bertelli himself called 'the best car I ever built' and which he personally race developed not least by driving them himself at Le Mans and the TT, has proven over the past 30 years to be as close to 100% reliable as you could possibly get with a pre-war thoroughbred sports car. This Ulster is in my showroom but is a temporary import from the USA and will be subject to (reduced) import duty should it return permanently to the EU. Ready to race and rally and on the button, as it has been for the past 30 years. Eligible for the Mille Miglia Retro and Le Mans Classic. This very special Ulster has had three owners from new, including the present owner. Only a very few pre-war cars, let alone Astons, have had fewer custodians.
