| Jaguar XJ12, speed in supreme silence Even before the XJ6 entered the market in 1968, Jaguar had already been working on a very special engine for this new car. A superior machine, it could be said, with twelve cylinders in a V configuration. By 1972, the engine was ready for production and was launched in the improved XJ6 Series II. With the Jaguar XJ12, an icon was born. Its new engine with twice the number of cylinders took the already phenomenal performance of the XJ6 to a level previously considered unattainable. The alloy engine barely weighed more than the smaller six-cylinder, but was much more powerful. However, what’s even more significant is the way in which the XJ12 serves up its capabilities. Time and time again, the car impresses with the relative ease of its pace. An enormous 400 Nm of torque at only 3,500 rpm might go some way in explaining this. Jaguar XJ12 Series II – 1978 in detail This 1978 Jaguar XJ12, which was registered in the Netherlands in 1979, can undoubtedly be called the most beautiful Series II in the Netherlands. And we’re not saying this without reason, because this is a fully original model with an odometer reading of only 85,333 km. It has been lovingly cared for! This XJ12 was manufactured towards the end of 1978, making it one of the last versions of the improved Series II. It’s characterised by a subtly raised roof and greater rear track-width, two measures implemented to increase space in the back of the car. This is very good news for anyone who prefers to be chauffeured around. The car is truly in mint condition. It is rust- and dent free and has never undergone full restoration, though it has been fully re-sprayed and otherwise meticulously maintained. Even the luxurious, black leather interior is completely original. A tasteful modification carried out is the addition of Jaguar E-type Series III spoke wheels. In our opinion, purchasing this XJ12 Series II is the way to go if you’d like to own a motoring legend.
