04/02/2012 Breaking News: Artcurial sells ex-Vadim 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Spider California for 4.5m euros
The hammer falls at 4,000,000 euros, that's 4,507,100 euros with buyer's premium
Late last night, 3 February 2012, at Artcurial’s Paris Rétromobile sale, the much-fancied Ferrari Spider California once owned by French film director Roger Vadim sold for 4,507,100 euros.
To an audience of some 1,000 people, eight telephone bidders and one present in the saleroom fought a tense battle over the silver, highly original car.
Outside the rarefied world of ex-racing machinery, the Vadim car, with its hedonistic, early 60s St Germain/Brigitte Bardot/St Tropez history is probably the most desirable Spider California in the world.
In a successful auction that grossed over 14 million euros, 90% of lots sold: the best-ever Rétromobile sale and best-ever collectors’ car sale held in France.
