RM Auctions 26 October London Sale: The motorcycles

c.1973 Moto Guzzi 750 V7 Corsa Speciale: £8000 - 10,000

In addition to sharp-suited City gents bidding on any one of RM’s 101 motor car entries at its forthcoming London sale, expect to see some leather and denim-wearing bikers, as a varied selection of 25 motorcycles – many to be ‘Offered Without Reserve’ – starts proceedings in Battersea.

The two-wheeled entries vary in age from a 1916 Wanderer V Twin 620cc (£15,000 - 20,000) to a 2006 Benelli 900RS (£16,000 - 18,000), and most are of Italian manufacture. The honourable exceptions to this are either Harley-Davidsons and an Indian, the fabulous metallic gold 1974 Honda 750 Four for £16,000 - 18,000, or the aforementioned German Wanderer and its compatriot, a sinister, black-painted 1934 Zundapp K Sidecar Outfit at £14,000 - 18,000.

Three fabulous racing-style bikes are Italian, and come from three different makes. The c.1973 Moto Guzzi 750 V7 Corsa Speciale (£8000 - 10,000), the c.1972 Ducati 750SS Miglia di Imola Corsa Replica (£20,000 - 26,000) and the c.1976 Laverda 1200 SFC Endurance Race Replica (£11,000 - 14,000, in bright orange – a classic).

Picking a favourite is difficult. I like the green Guzzi, but perhaps the gorgeous 1973 MV Agusta 750S (£40,000 - 48,000, in the company’s trade-mark red, white and blue) is more my style.

Time, clearly, to get the leathers out of the loft.
