| 1965 Porsche 356C Coupe S/N 217720 Engine No. 605081 Irish Green with Green Leather Ferdinand Porsche’s first roadgoing model bearing his own name was the 356. Introduced in 1948, it underwent continuous development during the production run, which finally ended in 1965. By production’s end, the car had come a long way. Engine output over doubled, from 40hp at introduction to just shy of 100hp in the last examples. The ultimate development from these years was the 356 C, which represented huge advances over earlier models, including the adoption of disc brakes. They were available in several configurations as both coupes and cabriolets, and with several motors. This particular 356C is refinished in its unique and original color combination of Irish green with green leather interior. At the factory it was equipped with a left side mirror, tinted windscreen, and Michelin tires. Recent restorative works under the current ownership period include new paint throughout, restored wheels with new tires, new high quality leather interior, and new carpets. The car is best described today as a “driver” condition car, boasting fresh paint and interior. As is common to many Porsche 356s, this example has seen the replacement in segments of the floors, battery box, and longitudinals. At present, it appears quite solid. The paint and exterior panel match is good. The chrome is in keeping with driver quality. This example is fitted with very smart under bumper driving lamps. The interior makes a strong impression with nicely re-trimmed seats, door panels, and carpets, while the rear seats and headliner both appear to be original. An sporty, later model steering wheel is fitted. The engine bay is also in keeping with driver standards, as is the frontal storage area. The car starts easily, shifts well, has effective brakes, and handles with the tight and responsive feel which Porsche’s are famous for. FJ1270
