CARTIER ART DECO MINIATURE
DESK CLOCK - MYSTERY STYLE
Cartier, No. 3455/2038. Made circa 1925.
Very fine and extremely rare, Art-Deco silver-gilt, gold and
enamel keyless miniature desk clock in the "mystery" style.
Rectangular with rounded corners, the lower section
with black champlevé enamel Art-Deco stylized decoration,
12-sided gold bezel with polished radial Roman numerals
on a black champlevé enamel ground, stepped silver-gilt
and polished black glass rectangular base, winding and
hand-setting crown under the base.
Mirror-polished gold. Gold and black enamel Art-Deco
serpentine hands.
11''', rhodium plated, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement,
adjusted monometallic balance, Breguet balance
spring, index regulator.
Case signed, numbered inside the case 3455 and on the base
3455 & 2038, movement engraved "U.S. Pat. Janv. 26, 1904".
