This 1964 Porsche SC Cabriolet was delivered in June of 1964. It was ordered new from the factory for delivery in the United Kingdom and the Certificate of Authenticity confirms the rare option of 'steering wheel on the right'. To find a factory built, right-hand drive SC Cabriolet is very rare - I would estimate production at between 40 and 80 including South African and Australian production. The SC is the ultimate 356 derivative and in cabriolet form must surely be the most desirable pushrod-engined 356 with the highest output motor, factory-fit disc brakes and the best developed suspension settings.
The original owner was C. H. Sherwood, Esq. of Birmingham. He passed to the car on to D. Mills in 1974. In 1977, Craig Gutshall, a pilot in the R.A.F. purchased the car and soon after, he and his wife Barbara moved to Los Angeles, California.
