Der hier zum Verkauf angebotene Mercedes-Benz 190 SL wurde am 29.05.1961 in die USA ausgeliefert. 2017 wurde der Mercedes über den Händler Beverly Hills Car Club zurück nach Europa verkauft. Der Wagen wurde von dem renommierten Fachbetrieb „Stodola“ in Polen erworben und durchlief dort einer „nut to bolt“ Restaurierung. Es wurden alle Aggregate und technischen Komponenten überholt oder erneuert. Im Zuge der Restaurierung erhielt der Wagen seine originale Farbkombination DB 190 Graphitgrau, mit einer roten Lederinnenausstattung. Die Motor und Getriebenummern stimmen ebenso mit jenen der Datenkarte überein. Somit verfügt der Wagen über die begehrten „matching numbers“ und „matching colors“.

Die Restaurierung erfolgte auf höchstem Niveau und wurde 2023 fertiggestellt und vollumfänglich fotografisch dokumentiert. Die Spaltmaße, die Anpassungen und die Mechanik befinden sich in einem perfekten Zustand. Im Anschluss erfolgte eine Oldtimer-Abnahme mit Hauptuntersuchung. Bei diesem 190 SL heißt es einsteigen und losfahren – und zwar mit einem frisch restaurierten Wagen, auf den man nicht mehr warten muss.

Wer sich in diesen 190er setzt, wird von einer erstklassigen Restaurationsarbeit im Innenraum überzeugt. Leder und Teppiche sind passgenau, mit Liebe zum Detail verbaut und lassen keine Wünsche offen. Im Kofferraum befindet sich das Kofferset, welches passenden zum Interior gestaltet wurde. Der Motorlauf ist tadellos und das Fahrverhalten sehr direkt. Der perfekte Begleiter für Ausfahrten bei schönem Wetter und kurvigen Landstraßen.

Der 190 SL war angedacht als ein sportlicher Reisewagen neben dem 300 SL, um die Geschäfte auf dem amerikanischen Markt auszubauen. Die Idee des Fahrzeuges stammt von dem amerikanischen Generalimporteur Max Hoffmann, welcher diese an den Vorstand herantrug und Ihn schlussendlich davon überzeugte. 1954 wurde der 190 SL erstmalig auf der New Yorker Autoshow vorgestellt und weckte viel Begeisterung. Er wurde danach noch weiter überarbeitet, um ihn optisch näher an den 300 SL zu rücken und dann schlussendlich im März 1955 auf dem Genfer Automobilsalon in seiner finalen Form präsentiert.

Technisch basiert das Fahrzeug auf der Ponton-Limousine (W 121). Der damals als „Touren-Sportwagen“ bezeichnete 190 SL entspricht in vielen Stilelementen seinem „großen Bruder“, dem 300 SL, vor allen Dingen bei der Frontpartie. Technisch hingegen wurde viel von den Ponton-Modellen übernommen, wie zum Beispiel das Fahrwerk und die Bodengruppe. Der Vergaser-Motor hingegen wurde speziell für den 190 SL neu entwickelt (M 121 B II).

Ein Fahrzeug mit sportlicher Optik und hoher Alltagstauglichkeit welches auch noch heute sehr bewundert wird.

The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL offered for sale here, was initially delivered to the USA on May 29th, 1961. In 2017, the Mercedes was sold back to Europe through the dealer Beverly Hills Car Club. The car was purchased by the renowned restoration specialist, "Stodola" in Poland, where it underwent a "nut to bolt" restoration. All aggregates and technical components were overhauled or renewed. Leather and carpets are accurately fitted, with attention to detail, leaving nothing more to be desired. The trunk is fitted with the luggage set, which was designed to match the interior. The engine runs perfectly and the handling is very direct. The perfect companion for drives around the curvy countryside.

The 190 SL was conceived as a sporty touring car alongside the 300 SL to expand business in the American market. The idea for the vehicle came from the American general importer Max Hoffmann, who brought it to the attention of the Board of Management and finally convinced them to go ahead with it. In 1954, the 190 SL was presented for the first time at the New York Auto Show and aroused much enthusiasm. It was then further revised to make it look closer to the 300 SL and finally presented in its final form at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1955.

Technically, the vehicle was based on the Ponton saloon (W 121). Described at the time as a "touring sports car", the 190 SL had many of the same styling elements as its "big brother", the 300 SL, especially the front end. Technically, however, much was taken over from the Ponton models, such as the chassis and the floor assembly. The carburetor engine, on the other hand, was newly developed especially for the 190 SL (M 121 B II).

A vehicle with a sporty look and high suitability for everyday use which is still very much admired today.
