Description
The E type V12, also known as Series III, was mainly targeted for the American market and therefore an automatic gearbox was a popular choice. The example we have on offer on the other hand boasts a 4-speed manual gearbox, much more fitting for a proper sports car. The Jaguar was completed in 1973 and registered in the USA for the first time in November of the same year. Apparently in its early years already, the stunning roadster was imported and registered in Switzerland. Thanks to receipts exceeding 40’000 Swiss francs available, the history of the car is well documented since 2002 with then 58’985 km driven. In 2010, at 67’927 kilometres indicated, a new radiator was installed. Shortly afterwards the E type received a brake servo overhaul and in 2011 the power steering including its pump were replaced. In May 2013, at 70’586 kilometres, the car received major attention through a well-known Jaguar specialist. This included an overhaul of the braking system as well as new dampers front and rear. In March 2016, after having been in the same ownership for more than 10 years, the then owner sold the V12 to a collector. He unfortunately passed shortly after, and in 2017 the Jaguar was taken over by its last registered owner. He invested in a new set of tyres and, in August 2018 at 73’745 kilometres, the master brake cylinder, brake servo and all brake pads were replaced. In May 2020 the car was taken over by a Jaguar aficionado but was never registered in his name. At the end of 2021 the E type was repainted in its original colour “light silver metallic” and now presents itself in very good condition. The red interior perfectly matches the silver coachwork, and the chrome wire wheels are typical for an early 70s British sports car. The last veteran MOT was completed in February 2022.
