Description

The Fiat 500 was produced between 1957 and 1975. Designed by Dante Giacosa, and despite its diminutive size, the '500' proved to be an enormously practical and popular vehicle throughout Europe.
Launched as the Nuova (new) 500 in July 1957, it was a cheap and practical town car. Measuring only 2.97 metres (9 feet 9 inches) long, and originally powered by an appropriately sized 479 cc two-cylinder, air-cooled engine, the 500 redefined the term "small car" and is considered one of the first city cars. The 'L' or Lusso penultimate model, like the car offered here today, was produced between 1968 and 1972 and featured a much modernised interior including a renewed dashboard and greater comfort and style were provided in this new model for a new generation.

This Fiat 500L was sourced and imported from Monaco by our vendor in 1998. Shortly after importing the vehicle it was treated to a windows out respray. Prior to our vendors ownership the car was subject to an extensive restoration and mechanical enhancements that included the fitment of a full synchromesh gearbox coupled to an upgraded 650cc engine. The suspension was also uprated and wider track tyres have been fitted. All of these upgrades when combined make this little car a very useable car indeed.
The car has formed part of a collection and in more recent years has seen little use and as such is now begging to be used and enjoyed by a new owner.
