Is this retro Porsche Design radio better than a Becker?

Porsche Classic has revealed a retro-styled head unit, which takes the concept of a Becker Mexico but is designed specifically to look at home in one of the marque’s early sports cars…

Slick buttons tick boxes

No matter how charming the character of our classic cars, the convenience of modern creature comforts is undeniable. The same goes for the stereos within; and Porsche Classic’s new head unit boasts Bluetooth and satnav – yet has an appearance fitting the marque’s sports cars from the early 911s right up to the last air-cooled model, the 993. It’s also suited to front- and mid-engined models of the same vintage.

With era-correct styling, buttons and fonts, the retro-fit radio will look at home within any pre-996 Porsche dashboard. A modestly sized LCD screen provides 2D or 3D navigation directions, flanked by six simple buttons and a pair of rotary knobs. The unit also includes both internal and external microphones for Bluetooth phone calls, as well as a variety of options for external music sources. Available now from Porsche Classic Partners or Centres, the new Porsche Classic radio costs €1,184.
