It's Pool Time

The concept of ‘carpooling’ is a relatively recent one. Go back to the 1960s, though, and the expression has slightly different connotations.

Keith Moon, the madcap drummer of The Who, is famous for driving a Rolls-Royce into a swimming pool. (Even though some say it was a Lincoln, and the pool empty at the time, it still makes for a great story.) In the 1990s, British band Oasis decided to repeat that stunt of rock ‘n’ roll legend for the cover of their third studio album, ‘Be Here Now’. We caught up with the photographer who shot it for them and, by the sound of it, only launching Bond’s ‘swimming’ Esprit into Jayne Mansfield’s heart-shaped pool would have been more complicated.
