This year’s Chelsea AutoLegends will be held on Sunday, 2 September and will present approximately 500 collectors’ cars and motorcycles to an appreciative and knowledgeable audience, right in the heart of London’s ‘car scene’.

Last year, despite inclement weather, many thousands enjoyed the mix of new and old classics, all just a 10-minute walk from Sloane Square Tube. In 2012, the organisers are expecting at least 15,000 visitors.

The quintessentially English location is home to London’s famous Chelsea Pensioners, retired men and women from the Armed Services, spending the rest of their years in peaceful, sheltered accommodation. It is also the site of the famous Chelsea Flower Show, in May.

Chelsea AutoLegends supports The Royal Hospital and this year it will also be recognising the work of Walking with the Wounded, a charity for the recently disabled, aiming to raise over £2m to re-skill and re-train injured servicemen and women from the British Armed Forces. It hit the headlines when HRH Prince Harry accompanied four wounded servicemen as they set a World Record by trekking unsupported to the Geographic North Pole.

If the thought of seeing the largest number of ex-Le Mans cars outside the Le Mans Classic, visiting the new-for-2012 Technology Park and Restoration Corner, and rubbing shoulders with Derek Bell, eight-times World Champion motorcyclist Phil Read and Ewan McGregor’s ‘other half’, Charley Boorman, appeals to you, Chelsea is the place to be this September.

And you’ll be supporting two of the most worthwhile causes in the process.

You can buy tickets for this year’s event now. In advance, entry costs £15.00 for adults, and £10.00 for those aged 12-16. On the door, this rises to £25.00/£20.00, respectively. Under-12-year-olds, accompanied by parents, gain free entry.

And if you own a motor car or motorcycle “of note” (say the organisers), you can suggest that it be included in the event for a reasonable £35.00 per car and driver, £25.00 per bike and rider.
