Bentley’s Speed 6 is the Continental’s sharper, sexier, two-seater sibling

At the VW Group night on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, Bentley revealed a new two-seater coupé that would theoretically sit alongside the Continental GT: the EXP 10 Speed 6…

A new car for new customers

While the Bentayga SUV lumbers through its development process, Bentley has given us a taste of another, more focused model line. At present, it’s still designated as an ‘EXP’ concept – but in reality, the sharp-suited Speed 6 is a public reaction testbed for the styling of a new two-seater sports car due within the next three years. Positioned next to the Continental GT, the Speed 6 would take the fight to the likes of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage and Jaguar F-type V8 S – however, specifics regarding the engine are yet to be defined. It seems likely that the turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 would be used in the production version but, given the name, might we see Bentley raid the VW parts catalogue for a V6 to fettle back home in Crewe? Whatever the outcome, CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer promises the type of ‘luxury performance’ expected of a Bentley. The price is estimated to be around £120,000, positioning it only slightly below its heavier, more luxurious bigger brother.
