In 1968, under Ferdinand Piech, the 908 replaced the 907. This model had followed the 2-litre 906, featuring a new tubular chassis, and a streamlined body tested in a wind-tunnel. This was the first Porsche victory at this level of endurance racing, opening the way for the 917 which, still in its infancy in 1969, went on to win the Championship in 1970 and 1971. For its part, the 908 continued to develop, notably the 908/2 and 908/3, not disappearing from the circuit until the start of the 1980sThe car offered, chassis 908-005, was built by Porsche at the start of 1968. According to details provided by Jürgen Barth, the first outing for this car was on 14 July 1968 at the Watkins Glen 6 Hours, part of the International Cha
