| One of only 146 examples supplied to the UK between 1972 and '73, this is the desirable earlier model featuring the oil filler in the offside rear wing. This example features a high specification including limited slip differential, electric sunroof and windows, Recaro sports seats and the original Blaupunkt radio, cassette player and Hirschmann electric aerial all work correctly.indeed the car is in superb and very original order throughout, it has covered 83,000 miles from new and has a full history from new. The car was originally supplied by Porsche dealer Ian Anthony of Bury to a Mr Harris in nearby Macclesfield, he retained the car until 1977 covering some 52,000 miles in this period, the extensive invoicing for this period shows that the car was very diligently maintained, mainly by supplying dealer Ian Anthony, AFN and Prestbury Garages. A Mr Fournier purchased the car in 1977 from Porsche dealer Newton Garage in Birmingham. He retained the car until 1988 and used it very infrequently, during his eleven years of ownership the mileage rose to just 62,000 miles. Prior to selling the car Mr Fournier had a major service carried out by PCT, this was the Porsche garage formerly known as Newton Garage who supplied the car to Fournier in '77. In 1988 the car was purchased by Dr Antony Cox of Warrington. He continued to look after the car very carefully for the next seven years as shown by the many invoices for work from supplying dealer Ian Anthony and RS Naylor. During his ownership the car was used minimally, indeed it had covered only 65,000 miles when he sold it in 1995. The next owner a Mr Paul Anthony Clare of Stockport kept the car for only 5 months before selling it to Mr Alan Jelly of Wimbledon who kept the car until 2008. Mr Jelly had the car inspected by respected Porsche specialist and Porsche Club Group Secretary at the time of the early 911 Register. He described the car as being in exceptional original condition which has huge potential to become outstanding. MrJelly clearly decided to make the car outstanding as in 1998 following purchase he commissioned Mark Waring to oversee a complete evaluation and renovation of the car to the highest standards. The substantial number of invoices together with very detailed descriptions of work completed show that a great deal of time and money was spent to ensure that this would be one of the finest examples of the 2.4S model. Indeed there is also a CD illustrating the restoration progress. Following completion of this work Mr Jelly used and enjoyed the Porsche, in his ownership the mileage rose to 81,000 miles and the car became a regular at club events. During this time the car was maintained mainly by recognised specialists Parr Garage, a well regarded Porsche specialist who were responsible for much of the cars refurbishment programme. In 2006 another specialist Tognola Engineering carried out an engine rebuild. For the past couple of years the car has been owned by a Porsche enthusiast who sold a fully restored 2.4S in order to buy this much more original car, which in his own words he has found much more satisfying to own. He had the car fully inspected by specialist Early 911, they then carried out a major service including engine removal to cure a number of oil leaks, fitment of new clutch and full engine detail. Many other detail works were completed to ensure that this remains one of the finest and most original examples. Finished in the original colour light yellow with a completely original and unmarked tan interior this really is a lovely example of the rare and desirable 2.4S model. Complete with a substantial history file documenting the past 39 years and 84,000 miles it would be very hard to find another Porsche with the history and original feel this car displays.
