Chrysler built only 1,100 New Yorker Town and Country station wagons in 1954 and this must surely be one of the finest examples in the world. It is powered by Chrysler s famed 331 cubic inch Hemispherical combustion chamber V-8 engine with Fluid Drive, Power Steering, heater, radio, chrome wire wheels and wide whitewall tires. The color scheme of dark metallic blue (Flagship Blue) roof over medium blue (Alpine Blue) bodywork with matching two tone blue interior with blue carpets is one of the most attractive ever put on a station wagon. The color palette is brilliantly highlighted by the fabulous woodwork of the rear compartment, particularly when the second row seats are folded down and the brightly varnished wood with chrome bed strips is displayed from the front seatbacks right through the tailgate. It is artwork. Everything has been done to high standards, from the meticulously restored dashboard to the door jambs. The engine compartment looks like new. But when all is said and done it is the wood bed floor, in the tradition of wood-framed Town and Countrys before it, that makes this car a standout. It is choice.
