| Aston Martin DBS Vantage, a well-heeled beauty Aston Martin has always been a generous brand. So generous that, at one time, the company didn’t even add a surcharge if a client wished to purchase a model with greater power and speed. Proof of this is this 1968 DBS Vantage. There’s never been an Aston Martin that wasn’t counted amongst the fastest cars of its time. The DBS, introduced in 1967, is sometimes seen as an exception to the rule. This was because it was larger and heavier than its predecessor, the DB6, while it had adopted the same engine. Still, the DBS – with its four-litre, 268 bhp, six-cylinder engine – offered excellent performance. However, clients who feared that the performance of their brand new DBS’s wouldn’t live up to their expectations were allowed to order the faster and sportier DBS Vantage at no extra cost. The three SU carburettors on this car were replaced with a set of Weber carburettors. Aston Martin also increased the compression ratio to 9.4:1 and added camshafts with a more angled profile for improved engine aspiration. The results spoke for themselves, since the DBS yielded no less than 325 bhp following these modifications. The new exhaust note also announced these changes! Now that more and more enthusiasts and investors are displaying growing interest in the classic Aston Martin DBS designed by William Towns, the time is ripe to invest in a DBS in general, and in a rare DBS Vantage in particular. Aston Martin DBS Vantage – 1968 in detail The 1968 Aston Martin DBS Vantage on offer from Noble House can be described as sublime from every point of view. The car has only travelled 81,314 miles. This means that the larger part of its ‘life’ will still roll by beneath its classic, wire spoke wheels. Something that especially counts in the favour of this DBS Vantage is the fact that, for the past ten years, it’s been cherished by the same, loving owner - a garage owner from Wales - who put enormous effort into the running restoration of the Aston Martin. As part of the ongoing restoration process, this DBS Vantage was fully re-sprayed in stunning Olive/Bronze Metallic. It also received new brakes, new wire wheels and tyres. The cylinder head was overhauled and it was fitted with new Weber carburettors. The interior, finished in bright red leather, was also replaced and is still as good as new. Although the car looks perfect, it will still benefit from our intensive ‘Noble House Treatment’. Then this special, rare, powerful and beautiful DBS will run better and look more beautiful than ever.
