| This could be the finest and most original low mileage Sprint Coupes in existence. It has covered just 7,900 miles in the hands of two owners from new and has clearly been well looked after as it is completely untouched and virtually indistinguishable from new. The car was ordered new on the 2nd April 1974 and supplied on the 1st May that year by Lotus dealer Camden Motors in Leighton Buzzard as shown in the original bill of sale which remains in the history file. The first owner Mr David Shaw of Bromley Kent returned the car to Camden Motors for its first service when three months old on the 15th August 1974 as shown in the original Lotus Service Book which is also with the car. He obviously loved the car as he kept it until 2002 covering only 6,800 miles, most of these miles were covered early in the cars life, the first MOT Certificate issued in August 1977 shows the mileage at 5,159 miles, this rising to 6,674 miles when an MOT certificate was issued in December 1980. Soon after this the car was taken off the road and stored until 1993 as explained in a letter written by David Shaw on the 6th April 1993. Indeed the next issued MOT Certificate in April 1993 shows the mileage at 7,723 miles. During his period of ownership the car was regularly maintained as shown by a number of invoices on file, these continuing even during the storage period. In November 2002 the car was offered for sale at 7,000 miles by highly regarded Lotus Specialist Pail Matty Sports Cars based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. The car sold very quickly to the second and last owner where it joined his small private collection of exceptional cars. Since then the car has seen minimal use on dry summer roads, the mileage rising to just 7,900 miles in the past ten years. During this time the car has been maintained as necessary initially by Paul Matty and later by Lotus specialist Neil Myers. Work has included the replacement t of all dampers and springs with a geometry check and figment of a new exhaust system. This really is an amazing little car, it looks, drives and even smells as it must have done when a couple of years old and what a fantastic drive it is, a real tonic after the increasingly large heavy cars of today offering no driver involvement! The car comes with all original books including the original service book, the original bill of sale, service invoices, past and present MOT certificates and correspondance.
