| Every now and then Porsche produce a special 911 model with a specification that hits a real sweet spot and results in a car that adds a little bit more to the 911 legend. The 993 Turbo S, introduced in 1997, the penultimate year of production, is such a car. Introduced as the ultimate 993 Turbo and the last of the air cooled Turbo’s the car featured a 450 bhp engine upgrade achieved through the use of bigger turbos and extra oil cooling, the suspension was lower, stiffer and a front carbon strut brace was fitted. Externally, the rear spoiler had a second splitter, the front spoiler was deeper with air intakes, brake callipers are yellow and rear air intakes feature in the rear wings. The interior was lifted with carbon trim and full leather, just about every option was standard on the S including electric heated hardback sports seats, climate control, sunroof, sound pack, trip computer and more. The specification as great as it is cannot get close to explaining why this car feels so fantastic and exhilarating to drive compared to the standard car. A recent drive to reacquaint myself with this car confirmed how focussed it really is, the fabulous suspension and steering gives super feedback and allows you to place the car so accurately and confidently. The performance is immense and immediate, all this together with a special bespoke feel to the quality of construction beyond that of the superbly put together standard 911 of this period. You really do get out feeling pretty good about life and wondering if there can be a better or more complete modern classic. This car is one of only 23 supplied to the UK Market, it has covered only 35,000 miles in the hands of two owners and it has a full Porsche main dealer service history. It is totally original and immaculate throughout. Finished in Midnight Blue metallic with dark blue leather trim, this is one of the last Turbo S's to be built, it was supplied on the 11th May 1998 by HR Owen, the Porsche main dealer in St Albans.
