| The SLR McLaren was developed by both Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive, and built at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, England. Two power house performance and race car companies at their best.
SLR stands for "Sport, Leicht, Rennsport" (sport, light, racing), and features a hand-built 5.5 liter, supercharged, aluminum V8 engine, generating 617 horse power, and 580ft-lbs of torque. The SLR uses AMG SPEEDSHIFT R 5-speed automatic transmission with 3 manual modes to help generate 0-60 times of 3.5 seconds, and 11 second quarter mile times, which is remarkable for a 3500lb car.
