For Sale: 1972 Lotus Europa S2 – Fully Restored, Exceptional Condition

The Lotus Europa is a mid-engined sports car designed by Colin Chapman and hand-built in England by Lotus Cars. Several variants were produced between 1966 and 1975 — including this stunning 1972 Series 2 model.

The Europa was never a mass-market car by conventional standards: just over 9,200 units were built in total, and the S2 accounts for a little more than a third of that production.

Visually, early S2s are quite similar to the final S1s, but they offer a notable upgrade in comfort and refinement, including electric windows, adjustable seats, tinted windshield, and a redesigned dashboard with a wood veneer finish that adds a more luxurious touch.

The chassis number 416, presented here, was built in 1972 with left-hand drive to full European specifications, and underwent a complete professional restoration in the 2000s by APC in the Netherlands. A brand new body shell was sourced directly from the Lotus factory (invoice included), and a new 1565cc Renault Crossflow engine was installed.

Several tasteful upgrades were added during the restoration:
